Final Project : National Costumes of Malaysia

The final project phase of the semester begins, thus the staying late in studio with sleepless nights begins. Of course, with the researching phase on the subject matter being done, such as the mind maps, initial idea developments, doodle sketches developments, it is time to actually produce the final project which is the three looks.

First of all, in conjunction of my Garment Draping class with lecturer in charge, sir Shafirul Riza, we were required to use the technique draping for the first look as well as the second look. As for the third look, a size 22 measurements was given to us, where we make patterns for the third look.

For the first look, I used draping technique as mentioned. What that is, a technique where we use a draping tape to get the desired design lines. After that step, we proceed the actual draping of the calico fabric on the dummy. With the draping on the dummy being done, we may then take it off the the dummy and lay all the pieces onto the mahjong to get the working patterns.

With that being said, here are some of the pictures for the production.
